It might be safe to say that one is just about as likely to
encounter scientists and (marine) biologists as farmers when
visiting an abalone farm. In fact, depending on the size, or the
particular operations being carried out at the abalone farm in
question at the time, the scientists and marine biologists could
quite possibly outnumber the farmers by a generous margin.
Why? One might reasonably ask, is this so? Well, being that they
are being raised from egg larvae to adult giant mollusk
exclusively within the confines of the abalone farm, very precise
and carefully studied measures are required to ensure that the
breeding process is carried out step by step according to the laws
of nature, as much as the abalone farm laboratory mass artificial
insemination process will allow. Sophisticated knowledge and
understanding of these, and other developmental processes of the
abalone are essential if your abalone farm is going to be a
lasting and successful operation.
